 | The year started with work to pass the Employee
Free Choice Act (HR 800). Our efforts paid off in the House in
March when Representatives voted by a sound margin of 241-185 to
pass the legislation. The Senate failed to gain the 3/5 support
needed to “invoke cloture” which would have allowed for a true vote
for the bill, but it did secure a majority of support (51-48)!

 | In April, nearly 800 Rapid Response activists got
together in Washington, DC to rally, lobby and get educated on key
legislative issues as part of the National Rapid Response
Conference.
|
 | In late Spring, the Anti-Sweatshop Bill (HR
1992/S 367) was reintroduced in the 110th Congress. A national
action combined with targeted local actions throughout the duration
of the year helped propel the bill to 152 cosponsors in the House
and 18 in the Senate – with more to come!

 | September was the kick-off for a series of
InfoAlerts that share the story of what happened to our economy and
how it came to favor corporations over everyday Americans. If you
